What is Cloud Computing and how it works..!

Spread the love

Cloud computing makes computer system resources, especially storage and computing power, available on demand without direct active management by the user. The term is generally used to describe data centers available to many users over the Internet.

Clouds may be limited to a single organization (enterprise clouds,) be available to many organizations (public cloud,) or a combination of both (hybrid cloud.)

Cloud computing Architecture:

The cloud architecture, the systems architecture of the software systems involved in the delivery of cloud computing, generally involves multiple components of the cloud that communicate with each other through a loose coupling mechanism, such as a messaging queue . Elastic provision implies intelligence in the use of a tight or loose coupling when applied to mechanisms such as these and others.

Cloud engineering:
Cloud engineering is the application of engineering disciplines to cloud computing. It brings a systematic approach to the concerns of high level of commercialization, standardization and governance in the conception, development, operation and maintenance of cloud computing systems. It is a multidisciplinary method that includes contributions from diverse areas such as systems, software, web, performance, information technology engineering, security, platform, risk and quality engineering.

Security and privacy:

Cloud computing raises privacy issues because the service provider can access the data that is in the cloud at any time. It could alter or erase information, accidentally or deliberately. Many cloud providers may share information with third parties if necessary for law and order purposes without a court order. This is allowed in their privacy policies, which users must accept before they start using cloud services. Solutions for privacy include policies and legislation, as well as end-user options on how data is stored. [106] Users can encrypt data that is processed or stored within the cloud to prevent unauthorized access.

Cloud computing services are Categorized into three types:

1) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): This service provides the infrastructure like Servers, Operating Systems, Virtual Machines, Networks, and Storage etc on rent basis.

Eg: Amazon Web Service, Microsoft Azure

2) Platform as a Service (PaaS): This service is used in developing, testing and maintaining of software. PaaS is same as IaaS but also provides the additional tools like DBMS, BI services etc.

Eg: Apprenda, Red Hat OpenShift

3) Software as a Service (SaaS): This service makes the users connect to the applications through the Internet on a subscription basis.

Eg: Google Applications, Salesforce

Cloud Computing Services:

We used to store our data on hard drives in a computer. Cloud Computing services have replaced this hard disk technology. The Cloud Computing service is nothing more than providing services such as storage, databases, servers, networks, software, etc. via Internet

Few companies offer such computing services, therefore, they are called “Cloud Computing Providers / Companies“. They charge their users for using those services and the charges are based on their use of the services.
